Week 25
U
Hello again everybody! Sorry this email is late but a lot has happened. I got to my new area on Thursday and felt like I got to a new mission, different scenery, different language, different people. It's definitely been hard having to restart learning the language, Cebuano J. But the Waray Waray I do know has been helpful. It was kinda a rough getting here and working cuz my comp also has only been here in the mission a month more than me and said he didn't know the language that well. So I was giving most the lessons the first couple days in broken Waray-H, Cebuano J, Tagolog, and English. But just yesterday my comp started opening up a lot and he actually knows a lot of the language, and even led a couple of lessons. So proud of him:)
I was also kinda stressed on leading a district 2 times bigger than my last one. But after leading our district council meeting and talking to them, it should be good. Or at least I'm not stressed about leading the district. The only thing I need to do is work extra hard so when I do training I can set an example. Lead by our works!
Yesterday was really good--it was the first time feeling the spirit really strong while I was leading the teaching. It was when I had them read the testimony of Joseph Smith's first vision. It was one of the first times where I really identified the Spirit and knew they were feeling it too. I told them what they were feeling was the Spirit. Awesome experience! I know if we ask, having faith in Christ, we can know the truth of all things.
I like what my brother Clark said to me about the new apostle being called, Elder Patrick Kearon, that he is going to search and find out for himself that he is a chosen apostle of the Lord. Not because he doesn't trust, or doesn't believe, but Christ gives us this gift of the Holy Ghost so we can know for ourselves. So why not know for ourselves!
Anyways, this place also is a lot more prettier than my last area. Actually my second day here we walked up this mountain to visit an inactive couple that were recently baptized. My comp almost exploded, so right after the lesson we said goodbye and left and bolted up the next path on the mountain that looked like it led to Bigfoot's house. Little did we know the mom we taught followed us for some reason to the beginging of the path from the main road, probably cuz we looked sketchy leaving so fast. A little wayz up the path she called us and asked if we were visiting someone up there, we were like yup yeah definitely and continued on our way. After taking a number 2 my comp came back and said that someone's gonna find a plan of salvation pamphlet up there. I was just like, bru, but I'm just hoping he didn't use the cover of Christ.
Our bathroom toilet looks weird. U have to pull up this string to flush it from the inside. There's no lid, the shower head is halfway over the sink, and the sink is cut off from the rest of the pipes so everything that goes in the sink just drains onto the floor. Luckily there's a ground drain tho.
We caught a rat on pday in our rat trap and called him Larry, which ending up being a bad idea cuz the ZL ended up drowning him in front of me. Dont get attached to your rats because someone will kill them... that's another thing I've learned this week. We played basketball. My comp is sick right now too which is sad because we just started rollin' but it is also why I can write this email to y'all. Hope y'all have a good one. Later!
