Week 41

Called parents...midnight their time as they were in Stansted, England.  Tried to call them later but they were at breakfast at the Hampton Hotel, or out on a walk to the 13th Century Parish Church of Holy Trinity, Takeley, England.  No luck talking with them this week.  Maybe next time.

Week 40

Thoughts & Socks Morning everyone! Hope y'all are doin' well. We just had zone conference yesterday, and was great to be with other missionaries there. We got to go to a the 3rd floor again except with the mission president. And the APs, so that's been fun. The mission president showed us a magic trick too, when he came to our apartment.  Don't have any crazy stories--just working hard and trying to be better. We're trying to visit our new people and especially recently baptized because they need to be nurtured more and keep learning about God's love. Especially through the members.  I've been trying to think Celestially every day and every hour through garnishing my thoughts with Christ. I've learned in the scriptures when Christ says He shows men their weakness, that they may be made strong through Him. And for me I feel he says it in the same way He talks about personal revelation. So really this is a form of revelation for reevaluation   So thr...

Maayong buntag sa tanan! This week was great, we had pancakes.  And last pday night we got a power outage so that was fun, and then we played badminton out in the street for a bit. Then Tuesday through Thursday we found people, taught some referalz and Friday we had exchanges. I went with Elder Harman because he's the district leader so he had to do the baptismal interview for Sister Champagne...she passed by the way.  And also she got baptized and received the gift of the holy ghost! Super awesome day. Then Sunday was General Conference! Super awesome! Learned a lot! I think my favorite thing was the theme of keeping covenants and going to the temple. Breaking news, I can't go to the temple y'all [because of missionary work]. But I can keep my covenants and if we do that, we can have the power and blessings in our lives that come from the temple.  I've learned that there isn't necessarily power in making covenants with God, like if we make a covenant but then don...

Week 38

Champagne Hey guys, it's Elder Robertson here. This week we found a lot of people and Champagne has her Baptism this week! I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning. That might be a weird way to describe it, but just seeing her progress from day 1 until now, where she understands the importance of the gospel is super awesome. I'm super grateful to the church members here too. They have been amazing friends to her.  Yesterday we had a cool experience where we found this lady and so we taught here about the restoration. I felt the spirit and explained what it was and if she felt it, and she did. The Spirit is a way God invites us to keep His commandments, and that is what I told her. So we set date for her baptism and left with good vibes and a couple experience points. So yeah, seek the Spirit and let the Lord help.  I've learned this week about repentance and that it's not just praying for forgiveness. When we keep the commandments we are repenting or when we change...

Week 37

Elder Robertson's new companion that he is training is Elder Dablo. Elder Dablo is from the Philippines and can speak Cebuano.  He doesn't speak much English so Elder Robertson is really learning Cebuano which is awesome Elder Robertson said training was weird (in their mission you get training for a day or so before you get your new companion) because it was just him and 8 sisters. Only one Elder arrived this transfer. Elder Robertson wrote down things that he liked about his training and things he didn't like. He never had companionship study with his trainer. He said "we're doing that now" with his new companion. He's still a little worried about messing up as a trainer. But is hopeful with just trying his best everyday and that's what counts.  Two friends came to church Sunday which was really nice. Sounds like they have a couple more people to start teaching.  Two different Elders share an apartment with him and Elder Dablo. One is Elder Bosley. A...
