Week 16
Mountain biking and the buko juice man

Hello hello!
Hi guys. It's another p-day and you know what that means. It means preparation day-that's in case you didn't know what it means. I've started a new journal cuz my old one was just my study journal.
This week I baptized a living person, Randy, for the first time and I accidently said the baptism for the dead prayer if you can imagine that. I thank my parents for that as well because I would have never done that if I hadn't done baptisms for the dead so many times in the temple, which I'm really grateful for.
I went on a super pretty bike ride thingy today. Maybe this doesn't make sense, but I felt like I was in a different country just because how different it is from the city, which is my entire area. We rode bikes, myself, Elder Zaragosa and Elder Westover, an American elder, and these 2 senior couple missionaries that are from one of the many places in Utah. Elder and Sister Johnson. Or the missionary factory.
It was really pretty tho and was cool to see the rice fields and mountains and fog with the occasional carybaow. Not sure how to spell the last one but it's this water buffalo thing that's super big. Also half way through the ride we stopped by this little village and Elder Westover asked a guy chopping wood if he had any buko juice (coconut juice) and the guy said let me see. And of course being a G, the guy climbed up this 20 foot coconut tree (hey that rhymes:) and slapped a couple of em down for us. So that was cool to watch.
We're gonna go to choir practice in a little bit from 3-5 and then to an FHE (Family Home Evening) with this one member family.
This past week was Halloween and then the next day All Saints Day and after that All Souls Day. Basically you just go visit your ancestors' graves on each of the days I guess. Pretty cool. Some kids dress up but they just stay in the house--and that's for Halloween. They don't really do much.
Our curfew was 6pm to get back inside the apartment from Mon to Fri just cuz the elections and stuff. Ig it gets violent sometimes. There's actually a place up north known for their politicians getting killed. Scary.
We went to this really fancy place house and it felt like I was in a castle place or something. A couple nights ago everyone was telling scary stories and then Elder Dick wanted to use the restroom so we all went with him downstairs so no one would get snatched by a ghost. Eventually all took turns using the restroom so no one would be left alone. After we turned the lights off, aw man, we bolted to our beds like the boogie man was behind us. Anyways that was somethin different.
Sorry this emails late again--it got too late. It's been a wild ride in the Philippines, not that I'm done, but so far--yk? This week is also a mission tour so were gonna have almost the whole mission here so its gonna be fun and wild. At the same time hopefully we'll still get a lot of work in. Also sorry it's long too but hope yall r doin good if you even read this. Later everybody!
